Robert Veliz was born on the former US Army base at Fort Ord, CA and, raised in a military family, happily grew up in a culture of diversification. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Tacoma and served in the United States Air Force at RAF Lakenheath, UK.
Robert received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and is a graduate of Northwestern Police Staff and Command College. He retired from the Washington State Patrol as a captain/district commander and is widely known in law enforcement as the former commander of the Washington State Patrol Honor Guard.
Upon retirement, he was selected to be the first director for the Office of Insurance Commissioner’s Special Investigations Unit responsible for investigating organized criminal insurance fraud. His work history also includes a position in a private security company where he was assigned to complete civil rights investigations throughout the nation and concurrently, logistical operations for a battalion of private security in Afghanistan. Robert also served as the Director of Court Administration for Snohomish County District Court providing non-judicial management for 8 district court judges and 78 court personnel. Robert worked for the Washington Department of Social and Health Services as the Administrator of Employee Investigations and supervised 6 investigators and 1 computer forensics manager. He has over 40 years in public service to the citizens of Washington State. Robert is currently licensed both as an armed private security guard and armed private investigator with the state of Washington. He has provided executive security for major tech companies such as Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and celebrities. He is a former commissioner with the Pierce County Ethnic Minority Commission and worked on the El Protector program in Yakima, WA where he formed partnerships with Native American and Hispanic groups. Robert is married to his wife of 43 years, Barbara, has two grown sons, and four grandchildren.
